Your name has been put forward for a role in the examining committee or as an opponent, an expert in matters of employment/promotion, anevaluator of quality in education or research, or other role. Before you can begin, you must complete a declaration concerning conflict of interest. What follows here is some general information about conflict of interest and then the declaration itself. Be sure to complete the declaration in full. Extra space is provided for comments. If a role has yet to be confirmed, select "No" on the relevant pages.
Conflict of Interest
The purpose of the rules on conflict of interest is to prevent a person from being involved in the processing of a case or from being present when a decision is made about a circumstance that puts into question their impartiality. For example, a person who is appointed opponent or examining committee member/examiner at a licentiate seminar may be in a position of conflict of interest in relation to the doctoral student and also in relation to, for example, a supervisor or co-author.
Rules of conflict of interest can be found in the Swedish Administrative Procedure Act (sections 16-18). Conflict of interest is a matter that is assessed on an individual basis. If a conflict of interest is obviously irrelevant in an individual case, then it should be disregarded. If it is relevant in the individual case, the University will assess whether a lawyer should look more closely at the matter.
In this declaration, you are to confirm that you:
- are aware of what conflict of interest means in the matter in which you are going to be involved
- do not have a conflict of interest in the matter in question
- will tell the person responsible if a conflict of interest arises at any point during the work
